Summer Opportunities

Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Summer Program

ABC Keystone will be offering PA Connection, our Construction Pre-Apprenticeship, over the summer. This program is recognized and registered with the Commonwealth.

The course takes place three days a week over four weeks and is a good fit for: 1) students exploring construction as a career choice; or 2) students who have an interest in the industry and want advanced training before entering a registered apprenticeship. Completion of the course provides credit toward any one of the ABC Keystone programs, along with OSHA 10-Hour Construction credentials and completion certification. The program is recommended for students ages 16 and older, due to use of hand and power tools.

This is a tuition-based program that costs $2,250 per student for all training, materials, textbooks, and personal protective equipment. Financial assistance with tuition may be available. Please let me know if you’d like information on a tuition subsidy. Transportation is the responsibility of the student.

The application is attached and can also be found on our website: https://abckeystone.org/keystone-training/pre-apprenticeship/

The 2022 York State Fair is fast approaching and we are looking for volunteers to help in different areas of the fair! We especially are looking for help in the Ag Education Center which has something for everyone.

Different areas in the Ag Education Center to volunteer are:

-Story Barn: story reading

-Craft Area: Ag themed crafts

-Seed Planting: helping the kids plant seeds

-Cow Milking: a near real life experience of milking a cow

-Helping with keeping things organized with he plants, aisle ways, and general need

Easy and Fun way to complete community service hours while also learning about agriculture! We need every volunteer to fill out a volunteer form. All volunteers need to be 14 years or older to volunteer without a parent/guardian supervision, those under 14 need to have parent/guardian supervision during their volunteer hours.

I have attached the volunteer form to this email but it can also be found at: Volunteer (yorkstatefair.com)
