Whats up with Mr. Barshinger...
I have been a teacher here at Red Lion for the past 10 years after graduating from Red Lion in 1997. I currently teach college prep biology for ninth graders and integrated science for upperclassman. Over the years I have taught numerous biology courses, anatomy and physiology, and general science. I hold a bachelor's degree in biology education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in exercise science from McDaniel College. Prior to teaching at Red Lion I taught four years at South Western High School and a half year at Dallastown Middle School.
In addition to teaching I am the head boys track and field coach at Red Lion. I've been involved in track and field and cross country for over fifteen years now. I've been the head coach for the past seven years. Our track teams have been very successful over the years and would love to see more students looking for something to do to join the team.
My wife Lindsay teaches for the Dallastown School District. I have two children. My son, Logan, is in fifth grade at Dallastown Intermediate and enjoys playing sports, particularly soccer and basketball. My daughter, Addison, is a bubbly second grader at Ore Valley Elementary. She also enjoys sports and cheerleading.
Outside of school I enjoy trail running and playing and watching sports. I am an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoy watching the Steelers and Penguins. I also enjoy spending time at the beach and traveling. I have been fortunate enough to spend eight weeks in England and have visited various places in Europe and the Caribbean and also Hawaii.
I look forward to working with you this year.
